UC RUSAL Approves Nanocoatings from RUSNANO’s Project Company ItN Nanovation AG

UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium producer, and RUSNANO announce that RUSAL’s IRKAZ, an aluminium smelter based in Irkutsk, and specialists from RUSAL’s Engineering and Technology Center, have successfully tested Nanocomp Metcast, nanocoatings developed by RUSNANO’s project company ItN Nanovation AG (Germany).

Analytical Equipment for Nanoindustry Enters Production in Moscow

ZAO Advanced Technologies Center, a RUSNANO project company, has launched its first line for production of high-precision equipment for research at micro- and nanometer scales. The project has a total budget of 387 million rubles. Joining RUSNANO as financial and technological co-investor is the research and production enterprise of the same name, Advanced Technologies Center, which has been engaged in the high-precision equipment market since 1990. Together the co-investors bring to the newly created company not only material resources and technology but also the intellectual resources that are so important to the success of any science and production undertaking.

High-Tech Synthesis of Colloidal Quantum Dots Begins in Dubna

Nanotech-Dubna, a project company established with co-investment from RUSNANO, today commissioned its first production line for high-technology synthesis of colloidal quantum dots. Among those taking part in ceremonies marking the opening of new facilities were RUSNANO Managing Director Dmitry Pimkin and Nanotech-Dubna General Manager Maxim Wakstein.

Production of Epitaxial Wafers for High-Speed Optical Components Opens in St. Petersburg

A factory has been launched in St. Petersburg where specialists will produce epitaxial wafers for high-speed optical components. RUSNANO and URALSIB Financial Corporation cofinanced the project. The technology for production of the epitaxial wafers was developed by a team of researchers from the Ioffe Physical Technical Institute in collaboration with German company VI Systems GmbH. This technology has no rival anywhere in the world.

World’s Largest Li-Ion Battery Factory Launched in Novosibirsk Oblast

Liotech, a joint venture between RUSNANO and Chinese holding company Thunder Sky, has launched the world’s largest high-capacity lithium-ion battery factory near Novosibirsk. Investments in the project exceed 13.5 billion rubles. The plant, which covers more than 40,000 square meters, was built in record time-nine months from start to finish.

RUSNANO Project Company Plackart Launches a New Production Line

RUSNANO project company Plackart has launched a new process line for plasma welding in Scherbinka, Moscow Oblast. This line complements already operating equipment for gas-thermal and high-speed deposition. As a result, the company now offers virtually all currently known solutions for protecting metal structures from deterioration and corrosion. The total budget of the project amounts to 4,018 million rubles of which RUSNANO will cofinance 1,220 million rubles.

RUSNANO’s Germanium and Applications Begins Producing Electro-optical Components

On November 30, 2011, RUSNANO project company Germanium and Applications initiated high-tech production of electro-optical components at its factory in Novomoskovsk, in Tula Oblast. The project is part of a complex for production of semiconductor germanium and related items that Germanium and Applications is establishing with RUSNANO’s participation. Its total budget is 2.16 million rubles. RUSNANO will co-invest up to 790 million rubles.
