Projects
Applications, proposals, projects
At present the corporation receives about 100 applications and proposals a month. As of September 15th 650 applications from 92 different cities had been made to the Corporation. 550 billion rubles has been requested so far, with sums ranging from 1m to 78bn rubles.
Applications have been submitted from abroad, as well as 92 Russian cities. In the latter case, applications were distributed as follows: Moscow - 31%, Saint Petersburg - 8%, Korolev - 7%, Novosibirsk - 5%, Samara - 4%, Chelyabinsk - 4%, Tomsk - 3%, Troitsk - 3%, Ekaterinburg - 3%, Kazan - 3%. Other cities made up 27% of applications, with a further 2% from foreign applicants. More than half (55%) of all applications comprise claims for scientific research and experimental design developments. The number of applications for organizing production of nanoindustry is also substantial (29%). Applications for the development of infrastructure compose 4%, educational projects - 2%, and others - 10%.
Applications for organizing manufacture of an end product, concluded with the manufacturer, are distributed quite evenly: machinery - 16%, medicine - 18%, building - 7%, chemical industry - 9%, electronics - 18%, energy 17%, others (agriculture, transport, the international clean water project) - 15%.
In accordance with developed statutory policy, the time taken by the Corporation to evaluate the project, where all necessary materials are present, must not exceed 183 calendar days (including a scientific and technical assessment of not more than 50 calendar days).
As of today:
The purpose of this project is to introduce the technology of producing aspherical optical elements (further - asphericals). Asphericals make it possible to decrease the number of lenses in the construction of an objective (therefore decreasing the mass and the dimensions of the optical system), but with the best-quality image. The introduction of nanotechnologies consists in using precision mechanics, which makes it possible to reach the precision of manufacturing optical lenses in terms of tens of nanometers. This will make it possible to radically reduce the quantity of aberrations in the optical device and to simplify their construction.
Project stage - the expansion of production with an element of experimental development. The project includes the implementation of the full technological cycle for the production of aspherical lenses and mirrors.
The potential share of the global market for the production of this project (high-precision aspherical optics) is worth about 125 billion rubles, with a market growth rate of 6-8% per year.
Project stages.
Stage 1. 06/2008 - 06/2010. Production of a machine tool for diamond turning and buffing, to ensure obtaining optical surfaces with an accuracy of 10-20 nm on a base of 150-200 mm.
Stage 2. 06/2010 - 03/2011. Operation of two industrial technological chains.
RUSNANO’s Scientific and Technical Council noted that “nano-manufacture of aspherical optical elements” is a project that corresponds to the highest scientific and technical level worldwide, and recommended that the Corporation finance the project.
On May 29th of this year the supervisory council approved the proposal to finance its first investment project, “the nano-manufacture of aspherical optical elements”. The formulation of the corresponding agreement is currently being drawn up.
Project “Putting into production a monolithic hard-alloy metal-cutting tool with a nanod-structure coating”
Purpose of project – putting into industrial production a monolithic hard-alloy metal cutting tool with a multilayer nanod-structure coating, intended for the production of aircraft engine turbine blades by the Saturn scientific development and production centre, but also for sale both to aircraft construction companies and other machine-building enterprises (such as in energy, automobile, or ship-building).
The Russian tool market is promising, as from 2007 to 2010 it is expected to increase by 10%, more than the expected increase in the global market of just 5.6%.
For several years in a row the volume of Russian tool imports have exceeded internal production and is growing. In terms of consumption patterns, import ratios of cutting tools composed 67% in 2007.
The Corporation will co-finance the project, which ensures the creation of a competitive product. The total project cost is approximately 1 billion rubles, with the Corporation investing 500 million rubles.

As of today:
- Three projects are at the final stage (administration, supervisory council);
- Two projects have passed inspection and are at the launch stage;
- 6 projects are having their assessments finalized in NTM (including investment evaluation);
- 25 projects are at the stage of scientific and technical assessment and modification following assessment;
- By the end of the year the administration and supervisory council plan to perform assessments on up to 20 investment projects (given positive evaluations at every stage);
- From then on, five projects are expected to complete the assessment process each month.
